GGAPP, in partnership with Isla Lipana & Co. (PwC Philippines) hosted its "CG Wrap-Up 2018" on December 13, 2018 at the Amphitheater, Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Rockwell Center, Makati City. The learning opportunity was conducted to update directors and officers of publicly-listed companies on the latest trends in corporate governance. PwC Philippines Chairman and Senior Partner, Atty. Alexander B. Cabrera discussed compliance and explanations on the Annual Corporate Governance Report (ACGR). Atty. Elmer D. Nitura, the Vice President and Head of Corporate Governance of SMART Communications presented on the duties and liabilities of directors and officers. Atty. Jocelyn Villar-Altamira, the Head of Corporate Governance, MERALCO, provided her insights on corporate governance and other related laws, rules and regulation. The event also provided GGAPP and PwC Philippines with a platform to formalize its knowledge partnership via a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the respective organizations' officers.
GGAPP held its 2018 Year-End Assessment & Christmas Gathering on November 28, 2018 at the Harrison Room, Conrad Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. The organization reviewed its performance for the year and developed plans and strategies moving forward. Mr. William "Billy" Suarez, Director, Organizational Development, Transcom Worldwide BV ROHQ was invited to discuss how GGAPP could strengthen its organizational practices.

(PwC Philippines) hosted its 6th Annual Forum on Good Governance, Ethics and Compliance on October 11, 2018 at the Conrad Manila, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. The theme of the forum was "Keeping Pace with a Dynamic Corporate Landscape" and focused on sustainability, data privacy, blockchain technology and corporate governance. Headlining the activity were the Hon. Raymund Enriquez Liboro, Privacy Commissioner and Chairman, National Privacy Commission, Ms. Ma. Victoria A. Tan, Head, Group Risk Management and Sustainability, Ayala Corp., Mr. Lito Villanueva, Managing Director, FINTQ by PLDT, and Atty. Alexander B. Cabrera, Chairman and Senior Partner, Isla Lipana & Co. Also providing their valuable insights were panel members Prof. Colin Legarde Hubo of the University of Asia and the Pacific, Mr. Jeffrey O. Tarayao of ONE MERALCO Foundation, Atty. Rosario Carmela B. Gonzales-Austria of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Eugenio M. Gonzalez of the Unionbank of the Philippines, Mr. Dominick Danao of XPENSIO Corp., and Atty. On July 6, 2018, GGAPP's trustees and officers paid a courtesy visit to the new Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman, Atty. Emilio B. Aquino. Also present was Assistant Director Rosario Carmela B. Gonzales-Austria of the Corporate Governance and Finance Department, SEC.
GGAPP held its 2nd Governance, Ethics & Compliance Officers' Summit titled "Creating a Legacy of Good Governance" on June 7-8, 2018 at the Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City, Philippines. The activity brought together professionals working in governance, ethics, compliance and other related fields in order to assess and evaluate the state of the GEC profession in terms of challenges, prospects and areas for improvement. The group then developed plans for promoting the sound and effective practice of the GEC profession and facilitating and promoting networking and further collaborative work among and between GEC professionals. During the learning sessions, discussions on Whistleblowing Programs & Mechanisms were led by Atty. Marlon R. Marquez of Marsh Philippines, Atty. Jocelyn C. Villar-Altamira and Atty. Lester Bernardo, Jr. of MERALCO, and Atty. Elmer D. Nitura of Smart Communications. Mr. Robert Bascon, Jr. of the Institute of Corporate Directors discussed Bridging the Gap: Top PLCs and Low-Scorers, and Atty. Rosario Carmela B. Gonzales-Austria of the Securities and Exchange Commission discussed Regulatory Outlook: What's Next? Mr. Alvin Dave M Pusing of Isla Lipana & Co. (PwC Philippines) shared the results of the Global Economic Crime and Fraud Survey.
GGAPP held a Governance, Ethics & Compliance (GEC) Academy: Concept & Education Module Development Workshop on May 18, 2018 at the Pasig Room, the Lighthouse, MERALCO Compound, Pasig City, Philippines. The whole-day activity was designed to "train-the-trainers" and establish standard education modules for GGAPP's upcoming GEC Academy. The workshop was facilitated by GGAPP's Education Committee, led by the Chairman of the Board, Atty. Vincent Edward R. Festin and Vice Chairman of the Education Committee, Mr. Alvin Dave M. Pusing. Immediately following the workshop was GGAPP's regular monthly meeting which was hosted by MERALCO. Past President and Trustee, Atty. Jocelyn C. Villar-Altamira discussed Liabilities of the Board during the Knowledge Sharing Session of the meeting.
