GGAPP held its highly anticipated Leadership Summit 2025 on August 1–2, bringing together governance professionals and thought leaders for a period of reflection, renewal, and strategic planning. The Summit, themed “Strengthening Leadership Through Insight and Renewal,” took place at the Abagatan Ti Manila Hotel in Tagaytay City.
A key highlight was the session led by Dr. Ruben L. Encarnacion, esteemed faculty member in Leadership, Ethics, and Human Resources at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business. Dr. Encarnacion delivered a compelling talk on “The Stresses of Leadership and How to Cope,” offering practical insights into the emotional demands of leadership and strategies for building resilience in high-stakes environments. The event also featured the formal induction of GGAPP’s trustees and officers for 2025, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to ethical leadership and governance excellence. The Summit concluded with a collaborative planning session, setting the tone for GGAPP’s strategic priorities in the year ahead.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, GGAPP returned to its roots by hosting the 6th Governance, Ethics & Compliance Officers' Summit at the Seawind Resort, Boracay Island—the very place where the organization was first informally launched. Held on March 28–29, 2025, the Summit carried the theme “Resilient Leadership: Integrating Governance, Risk, and Sustainability for Long-Term Success.”
The program featured Mr. Petros Florides, a chartered director from Larnaca, Cyprus, who shared insights on Risk Governance, and Ms. Marimar Baticulon, Founder of Aqo Partners, who led an interactive Sustainability Workshop. Other distinguished speakers included Ms. Rochelle Dichaves of Johnson & Johnson, who spoke on Social Sustainability; Mr. Alvin Dave Pusing of PwC Philippines, who discussed Managing Risk as a GEC Practitioner; and GGAPP Chairman of the Board, Atty. Vincent Edward Festin, who addressed the Evolving Role of the GEC Officer. GGAPP held its 5th Governance, Ethics & Compliance Officers' Summit on March 22–23, 2024, at the Quest Hotel and Conference Center in Clark, Pampanga. Centered on the theme “Navigating Governance, Ethics, and Compliance in an Ever-Evolving Corporate Landscape,” the Summit opened with a welcome address from Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera, President & CEO of Clark Development Corporation. A fireside chat on Sustainability Reporting and the Philippine experience followed, featuring Ms. Ma. Katreena Pillejera, Country Manager for the Philippines at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The session was enriched by insights from a panel of reactors: Ms. Marimar Baticulon of the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability and Atty. Evelyn Enriquez of Philippine Seven Corporation. This was succeeded by a focused discussion on sustainability led by Mr. Bonar A. Laureto, Principal at Assurance SGV & Co.
The second day of the Summit turned its attention to navigating relationships with local government units, featuring perspectives from Atty. Bryan Matthew C. Nepomuceno, Director at CDC and former Vice Mayor of Angeles City, and Atty. Gilberto F. Lauengco, former City Administrator of Antipolo City. Their contributions highlighted the importance of strategic engagement and regulatory alignment in advancing governance objectives at the local level. GGAPP hosted its first-ever Leadership Summit in 2023, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to advancing ethical leadership and governance excellence.
Held across seven insightful sessions, the Summit featured Mr. Petros Florides, a Chartered Director and internationally recognized expert in governance and leadership based in Larnaca, Cyprus. Mr. Florides led participants through a dynamic exploration of leadership fundamentals, offering practical strategies to enhance individual leadership capabilities and drive organizational impact. GGAPP hosted its 4th Governance, Ethics & Compliance Officers' Summit on January 12–13, 2023, at the Abagatan Ti Manila Hotel in Tagaytay City. Themed “Allies of Governance,” the Summit brought together distinguished speakers representing Audit, Human Resources, Sustainability, and Legal functions across various organizations. Featured presenters included Ms. Cathy Hufana-Ang of Ayala Corp., Ms. Ligaya Menguito, PhD of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Ms. Rochelle Dichaves of Johnsons & Johnsons, and Atty. Carmeline Viniegra of the International Container Terminal Services, Inc., each offering insights on how cross-functional collaboration strengthens governance and ethical leadership.
Held on November 10, 2022, at SMX Aura in BGC, Taguig City, the 8th Annual Forum on Governance, Ethics & Compliance convened thought leaders and practitioners under the theme “Embracing the New Normal: Thriving in an Evolving Corporate Landscape.”
The Forum featured keynote presentations and panel discussions centered on two critical themes: the Digital Economy and Sustainability. Ms. Yang Yang Zhang, CEO & Managing Partner of Xendit, and Ms. Koleen Davila-Palaganas, Head of the SM Group Sustainability Office, led the respective thematic discussions. These were further explored by distinguished panelists, including Ms. Julie Reyes of Maya, Dir. Rachel Esther Gumtang-Remalante of the SEC, Ms. Shawntel Nieto of Sustainable PH, and Dr. Assunta Cuyegkeng of Ateneo de Manila University. The Forum underscored the importance of adaptive leadership, digital transformation, and sustainable governance in navigating the post-pandemic corporate environment. GGAPP convened its 3rd Governance, Ethics & Compliance Officers' Summit at the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, bringing together professionals committed to advancing ethical leadership and organizational integrity. The Summit spotlighted the evolving role of GEC officers, emphasizing the need to broaden their competencies to include sustainability stewardship and people-centric governance. Participants explored how these expanded responsibilities can reinforce corporate resilience and stakeholder trust in a rapidly shifting business landscape.
GGAPP, in partnership with Isla Lipana & Co. (PwC Philippines) hosted its 7th Annual Forum on Good Governance, Ethics & Compliance on October 16, 2019 at SMX Aura, BGC, Taguig City. The theme of the forum was "Good Governance Convergences" and featured speakers from both the private and public sectors. Headlining the activity were Retired Chief Justice Artemio V. Panganiban, Retired SEC Chairperson Teresita J. Herbosa, Atty. Jeremiah H. Belgica, Director General, Anti-Red Tape Authority, Mr. Philip G. Soliven, Independent Director, First Metro Investment Corp., and Atty. Alexander B. Cabrera, Chairman and Senior Partner, Isla Lipana & Co.
GGAPP held a regular meeting on September 19, 2019 at Cafe 8, 8/F NAC Tower, 32nd Street, BGC, Taguig City. GGAPP Asst. Corporate Secretary Atty. Sam Santos led the Knowledge Sharing Session of the meeting which was titled "Our Code of Ethics Journey". The meeting was hosted by Aboitiz Equity Ventures.
On July 24, 2019, the newly elected trustees and officers of GGAPP were inducted into office by SEC Commissioner Kelvin Lester K. Lee. Before the oath taking, the group discussed with the Commissioner several programs to further assist the development of good governance and compliance practices in the Philippines. Also present was Ms. Karen G. Arias-Rocha of the Corporate Governance and Finance Department, SEC.
